Chris writes, “Whenever you’re trying to persuade, your first mission is to define the goal. The most effective way to do this is not to announce the goal to the group, but to help everyone decide on it together. You want to have the largest possible buy-in from everyone involved, and you get it by having everyone contribute to the goal in the beginning.”

Re: Persistent Marketing Pays Off: It’s Where the Magic Happens

Perseverance and focus on the goal are truly powerful virtues in the realm sales and marketing, I have been reading a book called 27 Powers of Persuasion by Chris St. Hilaire which discusses the similar idea of focusing on the goal. I knew what I really wanted to talk about and help folks with, but I thought "there's a million other people doing the same thing". It wasn't until I realized that, yes there are a lot of people who help others with the same problems, but there's only one person that does it like I do. That's me!

Sure, I magnify certain parts of my personality online, but people are still getting 100% genuine Andy and their getting the help they need.

Re: How to Create the Brand of YOU: What’s Your Why?

After reading this post, I thought about the paradox of being different and being "one of us". You got to differentiate to give your message a meaning. And build the path to translate that meaning in an appropriate way to your targets. Affiliate Marketing and making money, I know that for those that take advantage of using this as a stream of income, it is great way to build value to anyone that follows you by offering products, i generally when becoming an affiliate will only promote things that i personally use so for me some of my profits are used to buy and use products that i recommend.

<dc:creator I agree with you in that I see nothing wrong with a blogger monetizing their blog using affiliate products. My largest frustration in finding products is in the potential upfront cost... I feel strongly about only recommending that I've tried and feel comfortable recommending therefore, if it is a new find, I may have to buy it first to try it out :) Good to see another follower of Dave Navarro!

Re: How to Create Compelling Content for Your Blogs and Videos

Awesome content here, Wendy! I actually bookmarked this last week for review this morning, and I'm so glad I did.

I went for a 45-minute walk with a friend this morning. It was the first day of a commitment we made to walk together every morning, and as hard as it is to pull myself away from my desk once I'm firmly planted, I did it anyway, mostly for her. After reading your post here, I thought back on the walk and found three great ideas waiting there! I would never have thought to do that! Now I won't see the walks as taking me away from work, so thank-you!

I also love the idea of turning answered questions for clients into posts. We're building a private support forum for our Wordpress and "other platform" website clients -- set for launch this week -- and that's where I've been putting those "answered questions." But of COURSE they'll be perfect for blog posts as well! Maybe I can actually get an editorial calendar together now.

Thank-you so much for the inspiration! You rock, Wendy Maynard!

Michelle Quillin for New England Multimedia
http://twitter.com/NEMultim...

Re: Persistent Marketing Pays Off: It’s Where the Magic Happens

Every day we build on what we did the day before. It is so easy to lose sight of that... Persistent marketing can be hard, but it doesn't take a lot to de-construct everything by just one day giving up...

I think this is why there is so much focus on content calenders, tweet scheduling, and everything else because it's all about building little blocks... Really you don't know who's listening.

Re: How to Create Compelling Content for Your Blogs and Videos

Great post Wendy! I am currently surveying my list of subscribers after sending them 10 free photo lessons. By accident I found out that very few of them were using Twitter. So I turned that into a post about why I use Twitter. It's a great post (at least I think so), and will also do as a follow up for the folks that completed my survey, and to get others to do the survey because - you guess it - that's going to be their next newsletter!

I hope that makes sense as I haven't had my usual quota of coffee yet today ;)

Re: Persistent Marketing Pays Off: It’s Where the Magic Happens

Each day we build a little on what what we have created, and it keeps growing.
